Dallas police identified 25 year old Micah Xavier Johnson as one of the shooters who killed 5 cops and wounded 7 others at the Black Lives Matter protest. He was killed when police used a robot to detonate an explosive device near him.
Police Chief David Brown said, “The suspect said he was upset with white people and wanted to kill white people, especially white officers.” And sadly, he succeeded in that.
Brown explained, “We cornered one suspect and we tried to negotiate for several hours but negotiations broke down” and turned into an exchange of gunfire with the suspect.”
Black Power Group Claims Responsibility
While Micah Xavier Johnson was telling colleagues of the cops he murdered that he wanted to kill white people and that “the end is near” a group calling itself the Black Power Political Organization claimed responsibility. Johnson said he was alone, but the truth is unclear at this point. Police are continuing their investigation with much of downtown Dallas a crime scene.
The BPPO posted the following message on their Facebook page which has since been removed.
