The intrepid Lauren Southern joined me on the show to discuss her Facebook ban and the expanding war on free speech. Though not quite 21 years of age, Lauren is a veteran of these battles. She has to be. She’s Canadian. In Canada the war on free speech is at a sadly advanced stage – and the speech police are winning. But Lauren and other friends of liberty battle on.
Lauren talks about her Facebook ban – a story that landed her on the front page of Drudge, Infowars, Breitbart, and here at Downstream Politics. She received a 30 day ban because she mentioned in a post that Facebook had censored another conservative. Subtle, Facebook, real subtle. But tyranny is never subtle. It relies on brute force. Facebook was eventually shamed into rescinding Lauren’s ban by the attention brought to the case but her friends were not so lucky. I was not so lucky with my own Facebook ban.
In Canada, the law of the land is even worse. So-called “hate speech” is already a criminal act and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s liberal party has proposed legislation making criticism of the “transgender” agenda a crime. For example, saying that there are only 2 genders – male and female – could land you in jail for 2 years after the legislation passes.
Here’s a clip of Lauren talking with the opposition. Lauren’s part of this discussion will be considered a criminal act when Trudeau’s legislation passes. My interview with Lauren is below the video.
