Good work Republican insiders. Deny the rank and file the right to vote in a presidential primary and see how you do with your plans to grow the party. Funny thing is, actual voters think they should have a say in who becomes the nominee of their party rather than leaving it to party insiders like they did in Colorado over the weekend.
This Colorado man was so outraged by the state GOP disenfranchising voters he burned his Republican voter registration card and vowed to leave the party to which he has belonged for his entire life. He won’t be the only one. One can only imagine the smug, party poobahs reaction to seeing this lifelong Republican leave the party in disgust. Probably happy to see him go.
It’s time for Ted Cruz to act on his principles and defend the most sacred of political rights – the right to vote. He should renounce the Colorado GOP, refuse the delegates, and call for elections in Colorado. There is still time before the final primary in California on June 7th. It was Ted Cruz who said that the only way to beat Donald Trump is at the ballot box. In Colorado there was no ballot box. Sure, he would give up the 34 delegates state party bosses gave him, but his courage and integrity would galvanize supporters and energize his campaign probably propelling him to the nomination.
