Corruption in the Clinton campaign? Say, it ain’t so! It looks like the Panama Papers have claimed another victim – or should we say, exposed another dirty deal? The Podesta Group, the lobbying firm founded by Clinton campaign chair John Podesta, is the registered lobbyist for Sberbank of Russia and John’s brother, Anthony, is the individual handling the account.
Sberbank is implicated in a scheme by which world leaders hide assets and financial transactions from the public by funneling them through offshore havens like Panama. Even Vladimir Putin is implicated in this deal. Nice to know that a possible President of the United States has such cozy relations with the Russian strongman.
The forms required by the U.S. government to register as a lobbyist also disclosed 3 other companies related to Sberbank that are represented by Podesta. Those companies are the Luxembourg-based SB International, Cyprus-based SBGB and Troika Dialogue Group, located in the Cayman Islands.
The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, the collection of journalists responsible for initially reporting on the papers, have indicated that Troika Dialogue and Sberbank are tied to Russian President Vladimir Putin and his associates. Troika reportedly signed away assets to another company, Avto Holdings, owned by Sergei Roldugin, a godfather to Putin’s daughter.
Poor Hillary, scandal and tainted money just seems to follow her wherever she goes. Who wants another round of Clinton scandals? Especially when the down and dirty Arkansas scandals of the 80s and 90s, like the Whitewater land deal that sent several Clinton associates to prison, pale in comparison to what they’ve been up in Washington for the past 25 years. Better to just keep her – and Bill – out of the White House and as far from Washington as possible.
